Start where it matters. The Vikings took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
Gray at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 11 they get a franchise quarterback. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Troy Franklin slipping to Round 2, Pick 10 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Taking TreVeyon Henderson in pick No. 108 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Beau Brade in No. 130 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board fumbled Kris Abrams-Draine all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They will replay Cedric Gray at pick 160 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor itch, scratched.
A tidy bit of business in the 165th overall pick, where Theo Johnson graded well above the range. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A quiet steal in the 179th pick: LaDarius Henderson for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Christian Jones slid further than he should have, and the 230th overall pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
