The board owed the Vikings one, and it paid up: Tyler Nubin, the No. 21 name on the board, sitting there at Round 2, Pick 12 like a gift left on the doorstep. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. Reaching for Travis left real value on the table behind him. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Tyler Nubin in the 44th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Justin Rogers in pick 124 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jordan Travis at slot 127 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Sataoa Laumea at No. 149. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They read the board right and Jason Marshall Jr. was the payoff at the Round 5 slot. It adds depth where they could use a little.
No drama and no debate, Zy Alexander went about where he belonged in pick No. 162. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Jaylan Ford at Round 5, Pick 29 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
