The search is over. The Raiders handed the keys to Cam Ward, and the whole operation now runs on his development. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
Winston Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The phones were where this weekend was really won.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A real need, handled.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 37 with a little surplus value in Isaiah Bond. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jalon Walker in slot 68, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They will replay TreVeyon Henderson at Round 4, Pick 5 for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
They robbed the room for Kevin Winston Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
