It is the swing that defines the weekend: Jordan Travis in No. 42, a good 100 spots before the room expected him. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They will regret leaving safety for another day if the season turns on it. The Vikings clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jordan Travis in pick 42, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Matt Goncalves in the 108th pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid up for Javon Foster at slot 115 when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jaylan Ford at Round 4, Pick 30 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They paid a round early for Keith Randolph Jr. in the Round 5 slot, more than the board wanted. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Justin Rogers at pick No. 151 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They reached a country mile for Darius Muasau at No. 160, and the board is aghast. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
A real head-scratcher, Curtis Jacobs in Round 6, Pick 4 is miles ahead of his ranking. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Zion Logue in slot 214 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
By-the-book stuff, Matthew Jones at pick 230 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
