The board owed the Vikings one, and it paid up: Jake Majors, the No. 91 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 5 slot like a gift left on the doorstep.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Job largely done: safety settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom. They chose more darts over a bigger single swing.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 30th overall pick they get an anchor for the defensive front at fair value.
Dylan Fairchild at slot 97 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
You do not let a cornerback like Darien Porter reach the Round 4 slot and blink. They did not. A minor itch, scratched.
TreVeyon Henderson at pick 138 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They barely believed it either: Jake Majors still on the board at pick No. 171. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Somehow Rod Moore was still sitting there in No. 172, and they pounced on premier safety value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A slide stopped in the 178th pick, with Connor Colby worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They let Seth McLaughlin come to them and pounced at Round 6, Pick 35. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
