When a board-topper like Oronde Gadsden II slides to slot 219, you do not overthink it, and the Raiders did not. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th pick they get a three-down runner at fair value.
Tre Harris at Round 2, Pick 24 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Nothing to complain about; Jalen Royals went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jalen Milroe in slot 107. The roster fit checks out.
O'Donnell Fortune in No. 144 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jack Nelson in pick 182 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They robbed the room for Jay Higgins here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They barely believed it either: Karene Reid still on the board at pick No. 218. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Oronde Gadsden II in No. 219 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Circle this one: Kyle Williams at the Round 7 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
