The board owed the Raiders one, and it paid up: Jeffrey Bassa, the No. 131 name on the board, sitting there at slot 222 like a gift left on the doorstep. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
Shedeur Sanders gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. Reaching for Thornton Jr. left real value on the table behind him. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 6 they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Value with a capital V on Nick Emmanwori in No. 37, a genuine coup. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They barely believed it either: Jalon Walker still on the board at No. 68. It adds depth where they could use a little.
You do not let a running back like TreVeyon Henderson reach Round 3, Pick 9 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board fumbled Dylan Sampson all the way to slot 128, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They reached into another round for Dont'e Thornton Jr., and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Oronde Gadsden II at the 152nd pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Roc Taylor at the 166th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Somehow Terrance Ferguson was still sitting there in pick 178, and they pounced on premier tight end value. The roster fit checks out.
They paid a round early for Miles Frazier in the Round 6 slot, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They went early on DJ Campbell in the 216th pick, and the value did not follow. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Steal is underselling it; Jeffrey Bassa at the 222nd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
