The Raiders spent the pick that matters most on Drake Maye, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
They will need Randolph Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.
However the rest shakes out, Gray at that price is a win they earned. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 13 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Kingsley Suamataia in the Round 2 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Mike Sainristil at No. 77 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Cedric Gray at slot 148 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They jumped the gun on Tykee Smith, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A real head-scratcher, Keith Randolph Jr. in the 170th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Johnny Dixon slid further than he should have, and Round 6, Pick 33 is lovely value for the cornerback. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A straight-up fair deal on Gabe Hall at the 223rd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Value with a capital V on Caedan Wallace in the 229th pick, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
