When a board-topper like Khyree Jackson slides to the 208th overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Raiders did not. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. Reaching for Rattler left real value on the table behind him.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Raiders clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 27th pick they get a home-run threat at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick 44 is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Cooper DeJean in Round 3, Pick 13 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A big swing on Leonard Taylor III at the 90th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Value said wait; Spencer Rattler in pick No. 95 says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Steal is underselling it; Braelon Allen at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
Somehow Khyree Jackson was still sitting there in No. 208, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid up for Trevin Wallace at slot 223 when waiting would have done the job. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Curtis Jacobs at the 229th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
