They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The Johnson pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The cost of the Mahogany reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th pick they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
T.J. Tampa at the 50th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Christian Mahogany in No. 77 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Blake Fisher at slot 112 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They went early on Isaac Guerendo in pick 120, and the value did not follow. The roster fit checks out.
Tommy Eichenberg at the Round 5 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Taking Cornelius Johnson in Round 6, Pick 33 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Evan Williams slid further than he should have, and pick No. 223 is lovely value for the safety. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A straight-up fair deal on Tylan Grable at the Round 7 slot, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
