Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders bet the future on Sanders. The board says D.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Raheim Sanders got past him. The Raiders do not have to explain a thing at pick 212. The math is unkind, and the D follows.

Shedeur Sanders is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.

The Sanders pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.3 · Pick 3 · Shedeur Sanders · QB · rank 3
In No. 3 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
R2.2 · Pick 34 · Omarion Hampton · RB · rank 15
The board fumbled Omarion Hampton all the way to the Round 2 slot, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.1 · Pick 65 · Tate Ratledge · OG · rank 30
You do not let an offensive lineman like Tate Ratledge reach pick 65 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Xavier Watts · S · rank 20
Somehow Xavier Watts was still sitting there in the 69th overall pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R4.3 · Pick 104 · Smael Mondon Jr. · LB · rank 42
They robbed the room for Smael Mondon Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R5.2 · Pick 140 · Danny Stutsman · LB · rank 96
They barely believed it either: Danny Stutsman still on the board at the 140th pick. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
R6.2 · Pick 177 · Ricky White III · WR · rank 183
Ricky White III in slot 177 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.37 · Pick 212 · Raheim Sanders · RB · rank 141
Raheim Sanders at pick No. 212 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.2 · Pick 216 · Gentry Williams · CB · rank 243
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Gentry Williams. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R7.5 · Pick 219 · Shilo Sanders · S · rank 247
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Shilo Sanders well ahead of where he belonged. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
