Call it larceny. Nicholas Singleton sat on the board until pick 179, and the Raiders did not need to be asked twice. The board sounded every alarm, and the F is the fallout.
Everything downstream of Shedeur Sanders depends on Shedeur Sanders, and the building knows it. If White III pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.

Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Shedeur Sanders went about where he belonged in slot 4. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A wild overpay on Nic Scourton in pick No. 36, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A slide stopped in pick No. 67, with Tyler Booker worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nice patience on Jason Marshall Jr., who had no business lasting to the Round 3 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Smael Mondon Jr. at No. 106 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A big swing on Ricky White III at pick 142, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A running back of that caliber at Round 6, Pick 4 is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Taking Raheim Sanders in the 183rd pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They talked themselves into Shilo Sanders at slot 215, and the board did not agree. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Barrett Carter in the 220th overall pick, plain and simple. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
