Thirty-one other rooms let DJ Giddens slide, and the Raiders were the ones holding the card at slot 213. Highway robbery. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get an island corner at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Jalon Walker slipping to the 37th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A minor itch, scratched.
Tate Ratledge in slot 68 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board had Jalen Milroe higher than pick No. 108, and the quarterback fell to them anyway. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Emery Jones Jr. at Round 5, Pick 5 is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, Cobee Bryant at No. 180 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They will replay DJ Giddens at the 213th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Ricky White III at the Round 6 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A running back of that caliber at the 222nd overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
