Las Vegas Raiders

Best value of the weekend goes to the Raiders for Barton: D.

The Raiders spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Lander Barton, the No. 127 name on the board, in pick 223.

They will need McCord to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.13 · Pick 13 · Tetairoa McMillan · WR · rank 6
In the 13th pick they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.7 · Pick 39 · Tyler Booker · OG · rank 37
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Booker. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Trey Amos · CB · rank 57
A premium they did not need to pay, Trey Amos a notch or two before his time. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Omarion Hampton · RB · rank 19
Omarion Hampton at Round 3, Pick 5 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.6 · Pick 70 · Carson Beck · QB · rank 97
A wild overpay on Carson Beck in slot 70, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The roster fit checks out.
R4.5 · Pick 106 · Jordan James · RB · rank 53
They will replay Jordan James at pick 106 for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
R5.9 · Pick 146 · Smael Mondon Jr. · LB · rank 105
Smael Mondon Jr. in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R5.34 · Pick 171 · Ricky White III · WR · rank 190
Value said wait; Ricky White III in pick No. 171 says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.8 · Pick 183 · Kyle McCord · QB · rank 221
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kyle McCord this early at Round 6, Pick 8. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R6.37 · Pick 212 · Michael Taaffe · S · rank 148
Steal is underselling it; Michael Taaffe at pick No. 212 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Elijah Arroyo · TE · rank 181
Taking Elijah Arroyo in the 216th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.7 · Pick 223 · Lander Barton · LB · rank 127
You do not let a linebacker like Lander Barton reach the 223rd pick and blink. They did not. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
