Call it larceny. Harold Perkins Jr. sat on the board until pick 212, and the Raiders did not need to be asked twice.

The cost of the Everette reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.

Everything downstream of Cam Ward depends on Cam Ward, and the building knows it. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.4 · Pick 4 · Cam Ward · QB · rank 5
They paid sticker price for Cam Ward in No. 4, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · Omarion Hampton · RB · rank 15
They will replay Omarion Hampton at the 36th pick for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · DJ Campbell · OG · rank 44
The board fumbled DJ Campbell all the way to pick No. 67, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R4.5 · Pick 106 · Xavier Watts · S · rank 20
They robbed the room for Xavier Watts here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R5.4 · Pick 142 · Daylen Everette · CB · rank 173
They reached into another round for Daylen Everette, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.4 · Pick 179 · Deontae Lawson · LB · rank 92
Deontae Lawson at Round 6, Pick 4 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R6.37 · Pick 212 · Harold Perkins Jr. · LB · rank 120
Steal is underselling it; Harold Perkins Jr. at the 212th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
R7.1 · Pick 215 · J.Michael Sturdivant · WR · rank 211
They did well to land J.Michael Sturdivant in slot 215, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
