Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Raiders spent the 218th pick on Nick Martin, a name most had 47 spots down the list.
Edwards at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.
The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
Pick-by-Pick
Mason Graham at the Round 1 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
In pick No. 30 they get a weapon on the perimeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Jihaad Campbell in Round 2, Pick 5 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
A slide stopped in No. 62, with Aireontae Ersery worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
TreVeyon Henderson is a better player than pick 68 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They let Kevin Winston Jr. come to them and pounced at the 107th pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
No drama and no debate, Bhayshul Tuten went about where he belonged in pick No. 144. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A straight-up fair deal on Oronde Gadsden II at slot 182, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They barely believed it either: Donovan Edwards still on the board at the 214th pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nick Martin at the Round 6 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
