The rest of the league had time to spare on Darius Robinson; the Eagles did not wait, grabbing him 24 spots ahead at pick 97.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a ballhawk on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Chris Braswell in the 50th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
No drama and no debate, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. went about where he belonged in the 54th pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Darius Robinson in slot 97, miles early. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Value with a capital V on Theo Johnson in the Round 5 slot, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nothing to complain about; Jaylen Wright went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
The board had cheaper options than Javon Baker at Round 5, Pick 35, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Joe Milton III in slot 178 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
A real head-scratcher, Matthew Jones in pick No. 240 is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
