You build a draft on nights like this. LaDarius Henderson had no business being available in the Round 6 slot, and the Eagles did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. The Allen reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 27th pick they get a ballhawk on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
A reach on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in Round 2, Pick 18; the board had better options right there. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Brenden Rice at the Round 2 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A tidy little value on Zak Zinter in pick 97, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A reach for Braelon Allen in No. 137; a little patience would have been rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid sticker price for Cedric Johnson in pick No. 156, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Joe Milton III in the 172nd overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
LaDarius Henderson in slot 178 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
