This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Kalel Mullings, the No. 103 name on the board, stolen at the 209th overall pick. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get a lead back with juice, and a steal at that.
In pick 25 they get a disruptive interior force at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Andrew Mukuba in slot 97, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Circle this one: Jalen Royals at pick No. 101 is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A slide stopped in Round 4, Pick 1, with Jake Majors worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Kevin Winston Jr. in the 152nd overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Somehow Kalel Mullings was still sitting there in the Round 6 slot, and they pounced on premier running back value. A need, and now a little less of one.
