The board owed the Eagles one, and it paid up: Isaiah Davis, the No. 156 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 6 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They will need Trotter Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Nothing to complain about; Terrion Arnold went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Javon Bullard slid further than he should have, and Round 2, Pick 18 is lovely value for the safety. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reach for Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the Round 2 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. A minor itch, scratched.
Brenden Rice in No. 120 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 161, where Mason McCormick graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Kitan Oladapo slipping to the 171st pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A need, and now a little less of one.
No edge and no loss on AJ Barner in the 172nd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A running back of that caliber at slot 210 is the definition of value, full stop. It fills a real need, too.
