Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint got past him. The Eagles do not have to explain a thing at pick No. 178. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting Tagovailoa proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd overall pick they get a press-man option on the boundary. The biggest hole, addressed.
They liked Jeremiah Trotter Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 2 slot. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They paid a round early for Javon Bullard in pick No. 53, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Taking Roman Wilson in slot 97 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board had cheaper options than LaDarius Henderson at pick 160, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Frank Gore Jr. at Round 5, Pick 34 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A straight-up fair deal on Zion Tupuola-Fetui at the 171st pick, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steal is underselling it; Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at No. 178 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jaylan Ford in No. 189 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Taulia Tagovailoa at the Round 7 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
