Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Raiders spent No. 233 on Justin Eboigbe, a name the board had a full 39 spots lower. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Bowman Jr. value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get an anchor for the offensive line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in pick No. 45; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Denzel Burke at the 76th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No drama and no debate, Brenden Rice went about where he belonged in No. 112. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A straight-up fair deal on Ray Davis at pick 137, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Antwaun Powell-Ryland at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Mike Sainristil in the Round 5 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 172, where Billy Bowman Jr. graded well above the range. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Ricky White slid further than he should have, and No. 190 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They reached into another round for Justin Eboigbe, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
