The rest of the league had time to spare on Spencer Rattler; the Raiders did not wait, grabbing him 44 spots ahead at slot 78.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 14 they get an island corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jordan Morgan at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Spencer Rattler this early at Round 3, Pick 14. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A slide stopped in the 114th overall pick, with Smael Mondon Jr. worth more than the price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A straight-up fair deal on Antwaun Powell-Ryland at pick 151, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
You do not let a wide receiver like De'Corian Clark reach No. 192 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A big swing on Khris Bogle at slot 235, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
