Thirty-one other rooms let Cam Skattebo slide, and the Raiders were the ones holding the card at the Round 7 slot. Highway robbery. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The Raiders indulged a want in Campbell while a need in edge rusher, quarterback and other spots stayed open. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 19 they get a lockdown presence outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They barely believed it either: Malaki Starks still on the board at pick 39. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Somehow Jalon Walker was still sitting there in pick No. 69, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A curious use of the Round 3 slot. Edge rusher, quarterback and other spots needed the pick; a linebacker in Jihaad Campbell did not.
A running back of that caliber at Round 3, Pick 20 is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jake Majors at No. 106 is the proof. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jaylin Noel in the 146th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Dorian Strong at the 164th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A tidy bit of business in the 183rd overall pick, where Connor Colby graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let a tight end like Elijah Arroyo reach the Round 6 slot and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A conviction pick on Antonio Williams at pick No. 216 that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Cam Skattebo at Round 7, Pick 7 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
