The search is over. The Raiders handed the keys to Cam Ward, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
Landing Ransom that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. If Hamilton pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 6 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
Omarion Hampton at pick 37 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nice patience on Elic Ayomanor, who had no business lasting to Round 3, Pick 4. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
No drama and no debate, Darien Porter went about where he belonged in the 73rd pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Taking Chris Paul Jr. in the Round 4 slot is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A minor itch, scratched.

This one needs a full-page explanation: John Williams in the 224th pick, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
