Las Vegas Raiders

Skattebo should have been long gone. The Raiders pounced, and earned a D.

The board owed the Raiders one, and it paid up: Cam Skattebo, the No. 110 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 212 like a gift left on the doorstep. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.

Every board in the league had Thornton Jr. lower, and that gap is the story. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.

They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.30 · Pick 30 · Tre Harris · WR · rank 26
In pick 30 they get a weapon on the perimeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.5 · Pick 37 · Nick Emmanwori · S · rank 16
Nick Emmanwori in the Round 2 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R2.24 · Pick 56 · Zy Alexander · CB · rank 62
They took Zy Alexander at par in Round 2, Pick 24, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R2.30 · Pick 62 · Omarion Hampton · RB · rank 18
They will replay Omarion Hampton at pick No. 62 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · Alfred Collins · DT · rank 61
Alfred Collins at slot 68 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.5 · Pick 106 · Kurtis Rourke · QB · rank 133
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Kurtis Rourke. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.5 · Pick 142 · Dont'e Thornton Jr. · WR · rank 173
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in No. 142 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.3 · Pick 178 · Smael Mondon Jr. · LB · rank 100
Smael Mondon Jr. in the 178th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor itch, scratched.
R6.37 · Pick 212 · Cam Skattebo · RB · rank 110
Cam Skattebo at slot 212 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Miles Frazier · OG · rank 208
They let Miles Frazier come to them and pounced at No. 216. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.6 · Pick 222 · Jordan Hancock · S · rank 190
Jordan Hancock at the 222nd pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
