Everything else got attention, and edge rusher got none. That is a strange way for the Raiders to leave a draft. The bottom line is a respectable B.
If Colby pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Troy Franklin in slot 35, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They took Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at par in pick No. 46, which is nothing to complain about. It adds depth where they could use a little.
By-the-book stuff, Zak Zinter at the 78th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Connor Colby in the 114th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Ty'Ron Hopper at No. 151 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 6 slot with a little surplus value in Devin Neal. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
