The rest of the league had time to spare on Keenan Pili; the Raiders did not wait, grabbing him 88 spots ahead at the 249th overall pick. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Horton. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a lead back with juice. A real need, handled.
Nick Emmanwori at pick No. 37 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
You do not let a wide receiver like Tre Harris reach the Round 3 slot and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They reached into another round for Jalen Milroe, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board had cheaper options than Anthony Belton at No. 107, and it noticed. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They reached a country mile for Dorian Strong at Round 5, Pick 5, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Tory Horton in pick 182 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
CJ West at Round 6, Pick 36 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Oronde Gadsden II in No. 218 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A wild overpay on Xavier Truss in the 224th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Keenan Pili in the Round 7 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
