After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Raiders committed. Shedeur Sanders is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
On value alone, Hairston makes the weekend a net positive. Every board in the league had Smith lower, and that gap is the story.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 7 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
No edge and no loss on Tyler Booker in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They barely believed it either: Maxwell Hairston still on the board at No. 71. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They did well to land Nazir Stackhouse in pick 103, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Riley Mahlman in Round 5, Pick 7 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tim Smith at the 167th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Zy Alexander at slot 199 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
