You could see the war room lean forward. Kyren Lacy at pick No. 182 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
If Frazier pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get a wrecking ball inside at fair value. A real need, handled.
Shavon Revel Jr. slid further than he should have, and Round 2, Pick 5 is lovely value for the cornerback. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A straight-up fair deal on Tate Ratledge at pick 68, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No drama and no debate, Darien Porter went about where he belonged in the 73rd overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They barely believed it either: Jalen Milroe still on the board at No. 120. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jared Wilson in the 144th pick, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Hollin Pierce reach pick No. 158 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They will replay Kyren Lacy at the Round 6 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Ja'Quinden Jackson at the 214th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They talked themselves into Miles Frazier at the 218th pick, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Cam Jackson in slot 224 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
