There is conviction, and then there is this. The Raiders took Micah Morris a full 63 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The whole projection now runs through Jalen Milroe; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
About as rough as a weekend gets on paper, with edge rusher still staring back at them.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 11th overall pick they get a franchise quarterback, though the board says they badly overpaid.
Ollie Gordon II at the Round 2 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Aireontae Ersery went about where he belonged in Round 3, Pick 9. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Smael Mondon Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Tacario Davis at No. 109 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Bryce Foster in pick 145; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached a country mile for Kyren Lacy at the 187th pick, and the board is aghast. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A premium they did not need to pay, Germie Bernard a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tim Smith. A need, and now a little less of one.
A big swing on Micah Morris at Round 7, Pick 11, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
