After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Raiders committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting Speights proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
Jayden Daniels in the 13th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They went early on T'Vondre Sweat in the Round 2 slot, and the value did not follow. A need, and now a little less of one.
A quiet steal in No. 77: Rod Moore for less than the market said. A minor itch, scratched.
Fair-plus on Tommy Eichenberg, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Frank Gore Jr. at pick 150 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Omar Speights this early at Round 6, Pick 15. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Walter Rouse at slot 234 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
