Thirty-one other rooms let Ricky Pearsall slide, and the Raiders were the ones holding the card at slot 233. Highway robbery. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Robinson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 28th overall pick they get a blindside protector, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Nice patience on Cooper DeJean, who had no business lasting to the 76th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Zach Frazier at pick 97 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Beau Brade at Round 4, Pick 12, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Jordan Travis at the Round 5 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaylan Ford. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Jaylin Simpson in pick No. 172 lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Darius Robinson at No. 190 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Somehow Ricky Pearsall was still sitting there in No. 233, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
