Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Tyler Shough got past him. The Raiders do not have to explain a thing at pick 169. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Michael Pittman Jr. gives the group a proven body among the projects.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 14 they get a No. 1 receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nice patience on Malaki Starks, who had no business lasting to Round 2, Pick 5. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Tyleik Williams in pick No. 45 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
They liked Darien Porter enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 68. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Cam Skattebo at the 108th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Steal is underselling it; Jared Wilson at the Round 4 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Tyler Shough in the 169th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No edge and no loss on Jamon Dumas-Johnson in slot 215; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
