Some picks age like wine; Dillon Gabriel at slot 235 will need to, sitting 55 spots clear of his grade. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.
Irving falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get a sticky cover corner, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They took Kris Jenkins at par in pick 46, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Sedrick Van Pran at pick No. 53 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A real head-scratcher, Christian Haynes in the Round 3 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They let Bucky Irving come to them and pounced at the 114th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
A big swing on Cam Hart at the 154th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Jaylan Ford in pick No. 192; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Dillon Gabriel in Round 7, Pick 15 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
