The Kendall Milton selection is the head-turner. The Raiders reached 168 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. It grades a D-, and the process earned it.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
On value alone, Puni makes the weekend a net positive. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get a go-to option on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In the 18th pick they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value. A real need, handled.
A reach for Quinyon Mitchell in the Round 2 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They went early on Christian Haynes in pick No. 76, and the value did not follow. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A tidy bit of business in No. 112, where Dominick Puni graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reach on Ben Sinnott in the 149th overall pick; the board had better options right there. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board had cheaper options than Ricky Pearsall at the 190th pick, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached into another round for Sam Hartman, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A wild overpay on Kendall Milton in the 241st overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
