The Raiders clearly saw something nobody else did in Justin Eboigbe, taking him 39 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. The math is unkind, and the D- follows.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. On value alone, Smith makes the weekend a net positive.
Justin Fields gives the group a proven body among the projects.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 12 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. A clean fit for the roster.
In pick 18 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Kiran Amegadjie in the 76th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Junior Colson at the 112th overall pick, and it noticed. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Devin Neal. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Somehow Ainias Smith was still sitting there in Round 6, Pick 18, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They reached a country mile for Justin Eboigbe at pick 233, and the board is aghast. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Sam Hartman at slot 236 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The roster fit checks out.
