Whoever sat across the table from the Raiders should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The Thomas pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The Harris steal is the beam this whole class leans on. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 11 they get a load in the middle. A real need, handled.
In the 28th overall pick they get a potential shutdown corner, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
J.J. McCarthy at Round 2, Pick 11 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They did well to land Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in pick No. 49, just ahead of his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tyler Guyton in No. 75. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid sticker price for Tate Ratledge in the 111th pick, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Nehemiah Pritchett at the Round 5 slot is the proof. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Somehow Tre Harris was still sitting there in slot 189, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A quiet steal in pick No. 232: Marques Cox for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Xavier Thomas in the Round 7 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
