Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Devin Neal got past him. The Raiders do not have to explain a thing at No. 212. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The Dart pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a weapon on the perimeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In the 10th pick they get a lead back with juice, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Jaxson Dart at slot 68 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Value with a capital V on Smael Mondon Jr. in pick 106, a genuine coup. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Barrett Carter at No. 142 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
They robbed the room for Kevin Winston Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Circle this one: Devin Neal at the Round 6 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Quincy Riley in pick No. 216 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They barely believed it either: Seth McLaughlin still on the board at slot 222. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
