The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Michael Penix Jr., and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
On value alone, Edwards makes the weekend a net positive. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Reaching for Trigg left real value on the table behind him.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 14 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A real need, handled.
You do not let a wide receiver like Xavier Worthy reach pick No. 46 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Amarius Mims at Round 3, Pick 14 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Troy Fautanu in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Khyree Jackson at the 151st overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Donovan Edwards in the 192nd pick, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Michael Trigg in slot 235 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
