Some picks age like wine; Michael Barrett at Round 5, Pick 13 will need to, sitting 38 spots clear of his grade.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 12 they get a disruptive interior force. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, T.J. Tampa at pick 44 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Value said wait; Kiran Amegadjie in slot 76 says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They took Tate Ratledge at par in the 112th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A big swing on Michael Barrett at pick No. 149, well ahead of any board in the building. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Tahj Brooks in the Round 6 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They reached into another round for Sam Hartman, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
