If confidence were a draft strategy, the Raiders would have aced it. Darius Robinson at the Round 4 slot is 43 spots clear of where he belonged.
The Walker value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 13 they get an anchor for the offensive line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
You do not let a quarterback like Bo Nix reach Round 2, Pick 12 and blink. They did not. The roster fit checks out.
Taking Devontez Walker in the Round 3 slot is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Darius Robinson. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Gabe Hall at No. 150 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board fumbled Chau Smith-Wade all the way to the 190th pick, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Blake Watson at pick No. 234 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
