You build a draft on nights like this. Dadrion Taylor-Demerson had no business being available in the Round 4 slot, and the Raiders did the only sane thing and turned in the card.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Brian Thomas Jr. and all.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.23 · Pick 23 · Brian Thomas Jr. · WR · rank 23
In the 23rd pick they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 43
Payton Wilson at the 44th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R2.27 · Pick 59 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 35
The board fumbled Jordan Morgan all the way to the Round 2 slot, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.17 · Pick 81 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 76
Cooper Beebe at Round 3, Pick 17 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.19 · Pick 83 · Gabriel Murphy · DL-EDGE · rank 88
Gabriel Murphy in No. 83 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.13 · Pick 113 · Dadrion Taylor-Demerson · S · rank 83
They barely believed it either: Dadrion Taylor-Demerson still on the board at slot 113. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R5.11 · Pick 147 · Tommy Eichenberg · LB · rank 144
Good price on Tommy Eichenberg in pick No. 147, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Brennan Jackson · DE-EDGE · rank 152
Nice patience on Brennan Jackson, who had no business lasting to pick 169. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.2 · Pick 177 · Jaheim Bell · TE · rank 163
They let Jaheim Bell come to them and pounced at the 177th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.35 · Pick 210 · Johnny Dixon · CB · rank 181
Circle this one: Johnny Dixon at pick No. 210 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.1 · Pick 221 · Nathan Thomas · OT · rank 208
Nathan Thomas is a better player than No. 221 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R7.5 · Pick 225 · Austin Reed · QB · rank 231
They took Austin Reed at par in the 225th pick, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
R7.7 · Pick 227 · Rasheen Ali · RB · rank 226
Rasheen Ali in Round 7, Pick 7 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
