The search is over. The Raiders handed the keys to Bo Nix, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. Booker at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Kyren Williams gives the group a proven body among the projects.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 22 they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
No edge and no loss on Calen Bullock in the 44th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor itch, scratched.
Roman Wilson at pick No. 97 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Max Melton in the 119th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nice patience on Cam Hart, who had no business lasting to No. 147. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They read the board right and Javion Cohen was the payoff at the Round 5 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Austin Booker at slot 190 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jordan Magee in Round 7, Pick 1. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Jawhar Jordan slid further than he should have, and the 231st pick is lovely value for the running back. It fills a real need, too.
They paid sticker price for Steele Chambers in pick No. 240, and that is fine. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
