You could see the war room lean forward. Johnny Dixon at No. 223 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
The Charvarius Ward pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Bottom line, with Amarius Mims leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 31 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Tyler Nubin in Round 2, Pick 12 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Good price on Cade Stover in the 77th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
Maason Smith in No. 112 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Ainias Smith at the 148th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Ro Torrence at pick 208 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A cornerback of that caliber at the Round 7 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Trente Jones in slot 229. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
