The trade table was where it all came apart. The Raiders shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
The Hicks pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at running back and tight end. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. Reaching for Lee left real value on the table behind him.
However the rest shakes out, Randolph Jr. at that price is a win they earned.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 13 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on J.J. McCarthy. The roster fit checks out.
Calen Bullock in Round 2, Pick 14 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A straight-up fair deal on Cooper Beebe at the 77th pick, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tidy bit of business in slot 82, where Brenden Rice graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Matt Goncalves at pick 113 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A curious use of No. 118. Running back and tight end needed the pick; a safety in Jaden Hicks did not.
They took Darius Robinson at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Logan Lee at pick No. 146 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Cedric Gray in slot 147. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Good price on Nehemiah Pritchett in pick 150, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Ty'Ron Hopper at the 190th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Keith Randolph Jr. at Round 6, Pick 18 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jordan Magee in the 221st overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
The board fumbled Daijahn Anthony all the way to Round 7, Pick 8, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Steal is underselling it; Isaiah Williams at the Round 7 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They read the board right and Josh Wallace was the payoff at pick 231. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kenny Logan Jr. at the 232nd pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Steele Chambers at slot 237 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
