The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Michael Penix Jr., and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They banked enough surplus on Jordan to cover a lot of smaller sins. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. It is not that Solomon is a bad player; it is that the Raiders had louder needs to answer first.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 13 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at No. 44 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Christian Mahogany at pick 77 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A want over a need in the 112th pick: Javon Solomon adds an OLB-EDGE while edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots keeps waiting.
By-the-book stuff, Theo Johnson at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Value with a capital V on Jaylan Ford in slot 190, a genuine coup. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Jawhar Jordan at the 234th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
