The rest of the league had time to spare on Joe Milton III; the Raiders did not wait, grabbing him 58 spots ahead at the 113th overall pick.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The Mitchell pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 13 they get a disruptive interior force at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Adonai Mitchell at Round 2, Pick 12. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Brenden Rice slipping to slot 77 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Joe Milton III in the 113th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nothing to complain about; Beaux Limmer went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A slide stopped in pick No. 190, with Nathan Thomas worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Gabe Hall in pick No. 221 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
A straight-up fair deal on Ryan Watts at the 231st overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
