The search is over. The Raiders handed the keys to J.J. McCarthy, and the whole operation now runs on his development.

Reaching for Cole left real value on the table behind him. However the rest shakes out, Torrence at that price is a win they earned.

For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.18 · Pick 18 · J.J. McCarthy · QB · rank 29
In the 18th overall pick they get a long-term answer under center, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Tyler Guyton · OT · rank 28
Tyler Guyton slid further than he should have, and pick No. 44 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.13 · Pick 77 · T.J. Tampa · CB · rank 51
T.J. Tampa at the Round 3 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Jermaine Burton · WR · rank 56
They robbed the room for Jermaine Burton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · Audric Estime · RB · rank 103
Audric Estime in No. 112 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.12 · Pick 148 · Myles Cole · DE-EDGE · rank 197
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Myles Cole well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.33 · Pick 208 · Curtis Jacobs · LB · rank 198
Curtis Jacobs is a better player than pick 208 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R7.3 · Pick 223 · Ro Torrence · CB · rank 177
Ro Torrence in Round 7, Pick 3 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.9 · Pick 229 · Cornelius Johnson · WR · rank 188
Cornelius Johnson at pick 229 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
