The search is over. The Raiders handed the keys to J.J. McCarthy, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
Reaching for Cole left real value on the table behind him. However the rest shakes out, Torrence at that price is a win they earned.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 18th overall pick they get a long-term answer under center, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
Tyler Guyton slid further than he should have, and pick No. 44 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
T.J. Tampa at the Round 3 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Jermaine Burton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Audric Estime in No. 112 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Myles Cole well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Curtis Jacobs is a better player than pick 208 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Ro Torrence in Round 7, Pick 3 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Cornelius Johnson at pick 229 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
