You could see the war room lean forward. Khyree Jackson at the Round 5 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
By-the-book stuff, J.J. McCarthy at pick 43 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They took Jack Sawyer at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No drama and no debate, Blake Fisher went about where he belonged in the 111th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Khyree Jackson in No. 148, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They will replay Jaylin Simpson at pick No. 189 for years; that is how good the value is. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Francisco Mauigoa slid further than he should have, and slot 232 is lovely value for the linebacker. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
